Everything a Florida lawn needs
A good lawn here comes down to a few things done well and done regularly: cutting it often enough and at the right height, keeping weeds out of the beds and edges, watering the right amount on the right days, and fixing the spots that die out before they spread. Our lawn care covers each of those, so one company handles the whole yard.
Most yards start with regular mowing, year-round or just through the summer. From there, beds get weeded and mulched, hedges get trimmed, and sprinklers get checked when the edges of the lawn start turning brown.
Mowing, the right way
Cutting grass too short is one of the most common ways Florida lawns get hurt. The University of Florida suggests mowing most St. Augustine grass at 3.5 to 4 inches and Bahia at 3 to 4 inches, and never taking more than a third of the blade in one cut (UF/IFAS guide to mowing). A taller lawn shades its own roots, holds water better and leaves weeds less room.
Water, weeds and dead spots
Brown strips along fences and driveways usually mean the sprinklers aren’t reaching, and patches of dollarweed usually mean too much water. Both get fixed at the source: heads repaired and adjusted, the timer set to your watering days (the district’s rules change during water shortages), and the dead areas replaced with fresh sod.

Questions about lawn care
What does lawn care include?
Year-round or summer mowing with trimming and edging, weed control in the beds and edges, mulching, sprinkler repair and adjustments, and new sod where the lawn has died out.
How often should my lawn be mowed?
About once a week in the warm, rainy months, when Florida lawns grow fastest, and less often in the cooler months.
Why is my lawn brown along the edges?
Often the sprinklers aren’t reaching it. Heads get blocked by grass, knocked crooked or broken. Fixing them, then replacing the dead strip with sod, brings it back.
