Fresh sod, delivered and laid

Sod is a living thing, and it starts to suffer as soon as it’s cut. That’s why it gets ordered for a set day, shows up on pallets and goes down while it’s fresh, the same as in the photos on this page. Pieces left stacked in the sun for days turn yellow and take longer to root.

Buying sod and laying it yourself means hauling pallets, getting the ground ready and racing the clock before it dries out. When we supply it, the old grass comes out, the ground gets leveled and the new sod goes down the way it should, with tight seams and clean cuts around beds and trees.

Which sod for your yard

St. Augustine and Bahia are the two lawn grasses you’ll see most around Spring Hill and Hudson. St. Augustine is the thick, wide blade most subdivision front yards have. It wants regular water and handles sun and some shade. Bahia is thinner, does better on dry, sandy ground and needs less water once it’s growing.

When only part of a yard is being redone, matching the grass the rest of the lawn already has usually looks best. For a whole new lawn, it comes down to sun, water and how the yard gets used. We’ll go over it at the estimate.
